Since his commencement of private practice in 2020, he was appointed as Honorary Consultant at Gleneagles Hospital and St. Paul’s Hospital. He has also served as Director of MFM Centre at Gleneagles Hospital since 2021, extending his expertise and contribution to MFM in private sector.

During these 38 years of service in Hospital Authority (HA) hospitals, Dr. Leung contributed enormously to the development of various obstetrics & MFM services in Hong Kong. In particular, he was significantly involved in the development of:
1. 3D/4D ultrasound scan service, improving the prenatal diagnosis and counseling of fetal abnormalities;
2. Fetal therapy including endoscopic laser surgery for twin- twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) and in utero transfusion for fetal anemia;
3. One-stop multiple pregnancy clinic managed by MFM team;

Dr. Leung also coordinated two large audit programs involving all HA hospitals, namely, (a) Hypertension in pregnancy and (b) Caesarean section for fetal distress.

Apart from clinical service, Dr. Leung was also very active in academic advancement, mainly in the field of obstetrics and MFM. He published more than 100 papers in peer reviewed local & international journals, and 5 book chapters as author and editor. He also presented frequently in various local and international meetings & conferences. Dr. Leung obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) from HKU in 2012, with the thesis titled “Prenatal diagnosis of alpha thalassemia”. Dr. Leung provided huge training and research support to our specialist and MFM subspecialist trainees at various levels.

Dr. Leung has been serving our College since 2001 at various positions, including council members in 2001 – 2003 and 2009-2020. The contribution from Dr. Leung to our specialty was not confined to Hong Kong only. Dr. Leung was the Chairman of the Ultrasound Committee of Asia Oceania Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (AOFOG) in 2011-2015, an ambassador of the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (ISUOG) in 2014- 2020, an Executive Director of ISUOG China Task Force in 2018-2020, a member of ISUOG Membership development committee in 2009- 2013, a member of Task force on prenatal screening ultrasound in 2008-10, and a member of ISUOG Task force on Obstetric Doppler in 2011-12.

In addition, Dr. Leung has been willing to provide expert opinion in medico-legal cases. He has written 79 expert reports, and he was accepted as an expert witness in Court and Medical Council of Hong Kong proceedings. This is certainly a very demanding task in terms of time and expertise. Only very few fellows are qualified and willing to help, and Dr. Leung is one of them.

In summary, Dr. Leung has made significant contribution to the development of our specialty in terms of clinical service, research and training. In addition, Dr. Leung has further consolidated and strengthened the collaboration between Hong Kong and national / international partners. It is our great pleasure to propose Dr. LEUNG Kwok Yin to our College as our Honorary Fellow in 2024.
